Maria Sharapova is pretty much unstoppable when playing tennis on a clay court. She lost three matches on clay over the last three years, and all three of her losses have been to No. 1 Serena Williams. Her chances of winning the 2014 French Open are looking really good, she just needs to make sure she stays healthy. Sharapova moved up to No. 7 in this week’s WTA Tour Rankings. The two-spot jump came after she won the second of back-to-back clay-court titles. She slipped to ninth earlier this year in March, and it was actually her lowest position in three years. Since then she’s won the Porsche Grand Prix and most recently, the Madrid Open. That pushes her record to 46-3 over her last 49 matches on clay court.
