Look past the tattoos, the often sported mow-hawk and lots of bad life decisions and you have Chris Andersen, a very talented center who works in the NBA. Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen, who currently plays for the Miami Heat has had a hell of a ride . No, I’m not talking about his not making it to the NBA because he didn’t know he had to fill out an application for the NBA Draft. I’m not talking about his father that abandoned his family when he was four, nor his 2 year suspension from testing positive for drugs. In May 2012, Andersen’s life was turned upside down when he was accused of being a child molester. But, little did anyone, including the Birdman himself know, that he was actually part of an elaborate catfishing hoax. In early 2010, a young woman named Roxanne had sent Chris Andersen mail with photos of ...

Have you been wondering if the Lakers are going to turn their season around?  Beginning the season with one win and six losses is not the start Coach Byron Scott, the Lakers, and the Laker fans had in mind. Yet I believe there are at least two reasons why Scott is the right man to catapult the Lakers from failure mode into success mode.  1. Scott is a proven loser – Back in 2010 the Cleveland Cavs had just lost Lebron to the Miami Heat. With King James absent from the throne the Cavs they went on a 26 game losing streak. Anyone remember who was the head coach at the time? Yeah that’s right; Byron Scott was at the helm. Obviously I’m not asking for a streak of 20+ losses for the Lakers, but if there’s a head coach in the league right now that knows how to endure ...

There are some big personalities in sports. It is fun when you get someone to take advantage of that and turn it into a sports parody account to make fun of different events and plays that are happening in sports. Here are some of the best ones of Facebook and Twitter: FACEBOOK Sports-Funny Page They do every sort of sport. What ever is relevant at the moment in sports, they make fun of it. Everything is going well when your star players are smoking invisible joints! Following the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 118-111 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, point guard Kyrie Irving said the Cavs are finally starting to play together as a team. Irving scored 32 points along with five rebounds, nine assists, and four three-pointers during the win and spoke of the team’s blossoming chemistry after the game. “This game was special because it was the first game we actually played well together as a group,” Irving said. The Cavs still have some building to do, but the fact that Irving and superstar LeBron James were able to co-exist on Monday night is a great sign for Cavs fans. Kevin Love also chipped in 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting (including six threes) but managed just five rebounds to go with his one steal and two assists in the Cavs’ win. Love ...

Blake Griffin of the LA Clippers has shown he can do more than just dunk over anyone and everyone in the NBA. During the lockout he became an intern at Funny or Die. The 2001-02 Sacramento Kings were one of the most entertaining teams to never win an NBA championship.  Serbian forward Peja Stojakovic was one of the key players during the Kings’ phenomenal run to the Western Conference finals. In eight seasons with the Kings, he averaged 18.3 points per game and put together a total of 9,498 points. He’s the all-time leader in franchise history in 3-pointers with 1,070 makes and he still holds the highest free-throw percentage (89.3) in Kings’ history. Because of his illustrious career with the Kings, the team will be retiring Stojakovic’s No. 16 jersey on December 16, 2014 when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder at home. I’m sure fans will be glad to see his jersey up in the rafters because he was a fan-favorite during the golden era in Sacramento. ...

LeBron James isn’t the only NBA player losing weight. New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony is also on a hardcore diet, a photo of him posted on Instagram showed him looking very lean. Anthony has lost the weight as he is preparing himself for the triangle offense. First-year head coach Derek Fisher will be implementing Phil Jackson’s successful triangle offense with the New York Knicks. Anthony wants to be as athletic as he was when he was a rookie. It’s good to see him get in shape because he’s very talented. He’s been somewhat chubby over the past few years, much of his game is based of his shooting touch. Melo has supposedly shed over 20 lbs this offseason, mainly off a no-carb diet. He’s a phenomenal scorer who can light it up from anywhere, so we expect Anthony to have a big year this season. Jackson’s offense is famous ...

Many people believe that the 2014-15 MVP award will come down to either LeBron James or Kevin Durant. But let’s not forget, when Rose was last healthy he also won the MVP award. In fact, he was the youngest player in NBA history to win an MVP award. So with Derrick Rose being back in full force, he is most definitely a dark horse candidate to win this year’s MVP award. He even received MVP chants at last week’s Team USA scrimmage. Rose is even expected to make the final roster for Team USA. After watching him in exhibition last week, many analysts believe he has finally returned to his MVP form. He’s beginning to look like the same guy who led the Chicago Bulls to the top of the Eastern Conference before going down with back-to-back season-ending injuries. The Bulls have always been one of the best defensive teams ...
