The Thunder organization could have kept their 2011-12 team together and made one more run for a championship with the same core. But after failing to agree on a contract extension with James Harden, the Oklahoma City franchise decided to head in a different direction. They took their chances and traded their third best player (arguably second best player) along with Daequan Cook, Cole Aldrich and Lazar Hayward to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, two first round picks and a second round pick. We rarely saw Jeremy Lamb as an impact player, his main asset is his 6’11” wingspan. Lamb spent most of his rookie year playing in the D-League. Overall, the trade between OKC and Houston seemed successful for both franchises. Thanks to Mr. Beardsanity, the Houston Rockets are now back at the No. 3 seed in the loaded western conference. They boast an outstanding record of 39-18. Even though they beat the Sacramento Kings in tonight’s matchup, they put on one heck of a show. In addition to James Harden’s 43 points, he also dished out eight assists and had three steals. Is it just me or is the elbow a recurring problem for James Harden? I remember when he got elbowed by Ron Artest a few years ago. This time around, it seems like Harden was worried about his own elbow. All jokes aside, with a 37 – 17 record in the Western Conference, Rockets fans must have been worried after seeing their star guard injure his elbow during the Rockets’ overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors. James Harden originally thought he had broken his elbow, but after receiving an MRI, doctors say it was nothing too serious. Harden is now wearing a sleeve for his hyper-extended elbow.
