There were three QBs selected in the first round of the NFL draft this year. Four drafted QBs have been competing for a starting job. As of now not one rookie QB will be starting week 1 of the 2014 NFL season. Not usually something we see in the NFL. It looks as though coaches right now are happy with having their future QBs sit behind someone with experience and learn the game. Throughout NFL history that tactic has worked well for some big name QBs. Aaron Rogers, one of the best QBs in the NFL right now sat a couple years behind Brett Favre before he got his shot. There is nothing wrong with it, though fans might be chanting the rookies’ names at the first sign of trouble. Cleveland Browns’ Brian Hoyer over Johnny Manziel This has been the most over analyzed, over talked about, most annoying Rookie ...

Training camp is starting for teams around the league now and that means our Fantasy Draft parties are being planned. No matter how badly we lost last year, we are excited for the new year and have that new sense of hope. It is important to have multiple players in mind at multiple positions, because if you aren’t picking first then you might loose your guy and start scrambling for the next best player. It seems as though the WR position is as deep as it has ever been. There are plenty to go around without a big difference in production. Here are five WRs that could and should be your first WR picked.   #5 Alshon Jeffery LAST YEAR: 113 Rec, 1,421 yards, 7 TD’s Alshon Jeffrey showed last year he is a big time playmaker. He is bigger than most corners, and his combination of size and strength makes him ...

Yes, it’s the NFL offseason, but we all know that now is the time for you to start taking notes on fantasy because fantasy football never sleeps. Here’s a sleeper wide receiver you should watch out for: Justin Hunter Why Justin Hunter? We know that Hunter will be quarterback Jake Locker’s top target in Tennessee this year. It won’t be Kendall Wright, even though he’s starting his third season (that’s supposedly when a wide receiver finally steps his game up). Hunter clearly has way more upside over Kendall Wright. He barely played as a rookie last year and he still had twice as many touchdowns as Wright. Add this into the equation: Ken Whisenhunt is also the offensive coordinator in Tennessee this year. He does a great job with big-bodied receivers. When he was with the Arizona Cardinals, he did a great job with both Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. ...

Now that the 2014 NFL draft is finally over, it’s time to zone in and  focus on the NFL season. Football fans are looking forward to fantasy football this year. WR Kelvin Benjamin – Do not draft him as a number two or three wide receiver. He is more suitable as a No. 4 fantasy wide receiver. Cam Newton will be targeting Kelvin Benjamin a lot since he doesn’t have many offensive weapons this year. WR Mike Evans – He is a big physical receiver, and he could be a No. 1 WR in fantasy two or three years down the line. But for now he will be more like a No. 3 WR. QB Johnny Manziel – Quarterbacks who run with the football will score fantasy points. Guys like Tim Tebow and Terrelle Pryor put up points in fantasy, and Manziel is better than both of them. WR Sammy Watkins – Tap the breaks when you’re talking about rookie wide receivers. They have a tough time transitioning into the NFL. Watkins is looking more like a No. 3 WR ...

It has to be Josh McCown, the QB signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent this offseason. Last season he was the backup quarterback for Jay Cutler with the Chicago Bears. While filling in for the injured Cutler, he played really well when throwing to wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. The twin towers won a lot of their one-on-one battles with cornerbacks over the 2013-14 season. Right now, it seems like the Bucs are trying to somewhat recreate that offense for McCown by providing him with bigger weapons. Most recently, the Bucs drafted wide receiver Mike Evans (from Texas A&M) and tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (from Washington) during the first two rounds of the 2014 NFL draft. Adding those two players alongside Vincent Jackson will surely make a trio of targets that are even taller than the Bears dynamic duo of wide receivers. McCown definitely ...

Are you considering drafting a rookie quarterback? Everybody is an optimist when drafting rookies. But let’s be honest, many of them will disappoint and some will shine. So who will be the guy that shines? Let’s talk about the quarterbacks first since it’s a quarterback driven league. Five quarterbacks were selected in the first two rounds.   No. 3 – Blake Bortles (Jacksonville Jaguars) No. 22 – Johnny Manziel (Cleveland Browns) No. 32 – Teddy Bridgewater (Minnesota Vikings)  No. 36 – Derek Carr (Oakland Raiders) No. 62 – Jimmy Garoppolo (New England Patriots) Of these quarterbacks, I believe Bortles, Manziel, Bridgewater and Carr will eventually earn the starting role with their NFL teams. Although, in fantasy perspective, I think Johnny Manziel (selected No. 22 overall) will make the biggest impact during the 2014-15 season. Numbers never lie, and he has some impressive numbers with the Aggies. Obviously the rushing is ...

There have been a couple high profile WR signings since the start of free agency. The big play wide receivers are off the market and ready to make their teams offense better. I wanted to take a look and see which team will have the best WR combo in the NFL. I narrowed it down to four teams. Only four because I don’t see many teams with two true number one WRs. In this pass happy NFL teams are looking to add top end receivers instead of high end running backs. I will point out who I think has the most difficult matchups for opposing defenders. #4 Washington Redskins: Desean Jackson and Pierre Garcon I have this new duo here because of what they have done last season on opposite teams. With them together with a healthy RG3 can make them even better. Garcon had a huge statistical season with ...

The Washington Redskins have a good No. 1 wide receiver in Pierre Garcon, he set a franchise record of 113 receptions during the 2013 NFL Season. The Redskins have added another talented receiver, his name DeSean Jackson. You probably know that by now. Of course, Jackson will take targets away from Garcon. But he shouldn’t kill his fantasy value. In 2013, Garcon led the league with 184 targets. Obviously, that number isn’t sustainable and quarterback Robert Griffin III loves to look for Garcon. Both players have incredible chemistry and even a player like DeSean Jackson can’t change that. Garcon won’t lead the league in targets with a healthy D-Jax, but who’s to say Garcon won’t finish top-12 among wide receivers in fantasy football? Jackson will beat you deep with his speed and that’s about it. Garcon’s route is more advanced and he is expected to be more open than D-Jax. ...

The San Francisco 49ers are focused on locking down the NFC West. They have already locked up Anquan Boldin for a few more years and they are also helping Michael Crabtree come back to full strength. Both those receivers will make the 49ers a much stronger team early on in the season. To be a dangerous team, the 49ers will need to find a solid WR3 to really bring the entire unit together. Quinton Patton, the former Louisiana Tech standout, reeled in 104 passes during his senior year. The 49ers selected him in the 2013 NFL Draft, however, last year was a lost season for Patton. He broke his foot in the preseason and missed most of the year. This year, we have higher expectations for the healthy receiver. Patton is capable of becoming a productive WR3 in the 49ers run-heavy offense. He has great hands and he will improve ...
