Smith a sports commentator who’s comments were misunderstood, but Ray Rice, the NFL RB who knocked his wife unconscious, is having fans buy his jerseys and cheer for him as soon as he steps on the field. Very interesting. Stephen A Smith has been very vocal on domestic violence. When the First time he spoke about the Ray Rice incident he said, “I don’t know how many times I have to repeat this, to all of us as men…obviously the athletes that we cover; do not put your hands on a woman. Do not do it.” Yet because someone decided to take offense to Smith’s misunderstood comments on the two game suspension of Ray Rice, he was forced to apologize, saying that he did not mean to intend women bring abuse upon themselves saying, “It was not what I was trying to ...

Rice was suspended only two games for slapping his then girlfriend unconscious, and dragging her out of a casino elevator, which was caught on tape. If you have seen ESPN First Take prior to last Friday’s episode then you know Smith is very against domestic abuse. He commented on the two game suspension and mentioned how sometimes women can provoke men. Before we go any further, here are his comments this past Friday: “We know you have no business putting your hands on a woman. I don’t know how many times I got to reiterate that. But as a man who was raised by women, see I know what I’m going to do if somebody touches a ...

Just recently the out of work punter and gay rights activist Chris Kluwe and his lawyer have threatened to sue the Vikings. They claim that one of the assistant coaches used gay slurs during Kluwe’s time there. Using gay slurs is inappropriate, even if none of it was targeting at any of the Vikings players which, was the case. It was supposedly the coaches terrible way to get through to some players. It was also directed towards Kluwe’s support for gay marriage. He was also asked by former head coach Leslie Frazier to keep quiet about his stance on same sex marriage believing that Football shouldn’t be mixed with politics and religion. There was an internal investigation and Kluwe wants the findings to be made public or he is suing. Now, during Kluwe’s time with the Vikings he was very active in what he believes to be important. That is ...

The New York Knicks had a terrible season this past year, but the team’s value has skyrocketed since the new sale of the Los Angeles Clippers. The Knickerbockers are now valued at $3 billion! Here are some interesting notes on how the team’s value nearly doubled: In January, the team was only valued at $1.4 billion. Six months later, it became as high as $3 billion and that’s all because of the big deal the Sterling family accepted last week. Forbes made it clear that the Clippers franchise was worth about $545 million, but former Microsoft executive Steve Ballmer went ahead and bought the Clippers for $2 billion. Because of that huge sale, the inflated price of the Clippers has now also increased the sticker price for the New York Knicks. This goes to show us that the market for iconic sports franchises are truly robust. James Dolan would make ...

Magic Johnson and his partners, Larry Ellison and Oprah Winfrey, Floyd Mayweather are some of the big names interested in buying the team. Well now we can also add Yao Ming and Grant Hill to the list of potential buyers. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Yao Ming and Grant Hill are separately assembling ownership groups to make bids for the Los Angeles Clippers. Here’s my reaction to Mr. Ming wanting to buy the Clippers:  Grantland’s Bill Simmons first reported Yao’s interest in Lob City, saying that he is looking to partner with wealthy Chinese investors. Interestingly, Yao came very close ...

Dear  Adam Silver, Roger Goodell, coaches and team owners worldwide, Three weeks ago Donald Sterling came under fire for his racist and disgusting comments. He was fined $2.5 million and banned from the game and rightfully so. The commissioner came down hard and strong and it was the right decision. There is no place for racism, not just in sports, but anywhere amongst humanity. Something in the same category, but with worse physical repercussions is domestic abuse. The leniency that is given to them for their domestic abuse problems that happen all to often and go unpunished. Greg Hardy, the defensive end for the Carolina Panthers made headlines this week for “allegedly” giving a ‘woopin’ to his girlfriend, Nicole Holder because he was jealous of a past relationship she had with rapper Nelly. According to the police report Holder was thrown into a bathtub, then dragged across the floor by her ...
